There will be a record of a bases-loaded walk, which happens a lot in baseball. There was one walk that did make history, though: USA Today says it was the first walk that decided a game after a pitch-clock penalty. The play took place on Saturday, when the Washington Nationals played the Colorado Rockies. Based on MLB.com, Rockies starter Ryan McMahon faced Nationals closer Kyle Finnegan with the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth inning and the score tied at 7.

Finnegan got ready to throw his next ball when the count was full, but he took a little too long. Thanks to new rules meant to speed up the game, Finnegan only had 18 seconds to throw. According to the AP, that is the new limit when there are men on base. Hunter Wendelstedt spoke up and said that Finnegan had broken the rule. Because of this, McMahon got a free walk, and the winning run scored. Here you can watch the moment.

Finnish player Finnegan said after the game, "I am just trying to focus on the pitch and then location." "I believed I found the time." Maybe it was a little too late by the time I picked up the ball, looked at the catcher, and threw it. There are times when that can not happen. We should have won, but I failed to do my job. Finnegan has broken the pitch clock nine times this season, which is the most in the league.
